Mark Heslop, the driving force behind Ngappa Solutions, is a seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in hydrography, navigation, and GIS. He graduated in 1988 with a BSc (Hons) in Nautical Studies from Plymouth Polytechnic (now Plymouth University), specializing in navigation, hydrography, and naval architecture.

Mark’s career began as a hydrographic surveyor for leading offshore survey companies, where he gained global experience working in the UK, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Australia. Early on, Mark taught himself computer programming to automate data processing, developing among other things, a Windows 95 program for generating tide predictions from harmonic constants.

In the late 1990s, Mark expanded his skillset to GIS and spatial data management, taking on a role as a GIS consultant for a major oil and gas company. His expertise spans GIS application design, data management, and survey-related IT projects, making him uniquely positioned to lead Ngappa in its mission to revolutionize tide prediction and hydrographic solutions.

Throughout his career, Mark honed his passion for innovation by developing software solutions that simplify complex tasks. His experience working with custom tide prediction models has led to the creation of the models that power Ngappa Tides today.
